Championship of the World of Atlanta Recap

Sometimes when something seems too good to be true its best to sleep on it. The heat of the moment can stir up your emotions. Stepping back and letting a moment breathe often allows you to examine it with a newfound clarity and more realism.

That is not the case with the Championship of the World of Atlanta. I’ve gotten to see some incredible swimming moments in my lifetime: Phelps winning his 7th Gold in the 100 Fly at the 2008 Beijing Olympics by 1/100th of a second, Dara Torres medaling in her 5th Olympic Games at the age of 41 and a little over a year after giving birth, literally anything Katie Ledecky has done since she won gold in the London Olympics in 2012 as a 15 year old…but Saturday we saw another feat that can be added to that list — Garden Hills scratching and clawing their way past countless lead changes on their way to victory.
