Grown-Up Swimming and USMS

Welp, we did a thing. Grown-Up Swimming is now officially part of the USMS family!

After much wooing, debating, deliberation, and negotiating, Grown-Up Swimming has joined up with US Masters Swimming. Do people still use the word, “wooing”? Whatever, we’re all old here.

This is a perfect match. Grown-Up Swimming is awesome and needs to be accessible to everyone, everywhere. Needs. To. Be. USMS can help us do that. USMS is also awesome, operating with the mission to empower adults to improve their lives through swimming. Grown-Up Swimming can help them do that by providing a fun, laid-back “summer league” environment to compete. So, they’re pumped to help Grown-Up spread under their umbrella. Wait. Is USMS Rihanna? Do we owe her royalties for simply standing under the USMS umbrella? Or would we owe royalties if we specifically stood under the USMS umbrella ella ella eh eh eh? If we spell ‘eh’ like that, do we owe the Canadians too? This announcement is getting expensive.

Alright, focus. USMS fully believes in what we've built here and wants to help bring it to every city in the US. While this is really exciting for us to be able to expand, what does it mean for our existing leagues? Well, it mostly means more time and support for our existing leagues and league directors. And more fun. Yes, more fun.

Speaking of Fun…

Here’s an inside look into the room where it happened. On the left, that is the quite professional, buttoned-up CEO of USMS: Dawson Hughes. On the right is the less buttoned up, Head Grown-Up of Grown-Up Swimming: Brian Robbins. Or maybe that’s Jason Sudeikis and Ryan Gosling.

As part of the expansion plan, we’re looking for paid league directors in the cities below, but if your town isn’t on this list (or the list at: grownupswimming.com/find-your-league), let’s still talk.

  • Albuquerque, NM

  • Charlotte, NC

  • Chicago

  • Cincinnati

  • Denver

  • Indianapolis

  • Los Angeles

  • Madison, WI

  • Orange County, CA

  • Portland, OR

  • Richmond, VA

  • Seattle

  • South Florida (with divisions in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Palm Beach)

See you out there this summer!
