Inaugural Flip Turn Follies
Why is Inaugural so hard to say? Inaugural. Inaugural. There we go. Inaugural.
If you’ve found this page, there’s a decent chance that you already know what Grown-Up Swimming is, or that you’ve at least heard of it. Outside of that, say, 1,000 people in the world, here’s the skinny. Well over a decade ago, some knuckleheads in Atlanta decided to take the parent/coach relay at the end of the season to the next level. They said, “Hey, why don’t we have a summer league for adults?” Great question, knuckleheads, I’m glad you asked.
So, they set out to create that summer league for adults, and yada yada yada, now there are 4 or 5 Friday nights every summer where you can find a few hundred people randomly gathered around Metro Atlanta for a pool party—uh, I mean swim meet. And beginning in 2021 because 2020 politely prevented it happening sooner, there are a bunch of other cities hopping on the bandwagon. [insert shameless plug to join the movement here or here]
Okay, back to the Flip Turn Follies. This summer league for Boomers, GenX, and Millennials is growing, so you know what we need? A blog. That’s right you old farts; we’re going back to 2003. GenZ can have TikTok. Grown-Up Swimming is gonna make you read. (Just kidding GenZ, we want you in with us…we just may need your help managing our social).

The FTFs are going to consist of news and announcements both nationally and in each city, including:
New Leagues being formed
Meet schedules
Registration instructions
Meet recaps
And most likely, a scattering of random…follies.
