Over Halfway in Atlanta!

Welp, here we are at the end of July, and Atlanta has 3 meets in the books for the 2021 season! Well, we sort of had 3 meets. It’s really been 4. Okay, what had happened was we had 1 meet that was like really big, then we limited the number of events folks could swim in the 2nd meet, then we split the league into divisions for the 3rd meet, so that was really had 2 more meets that we split up in divisions, but both of those got rained out after like 6 events, and now the final 2 meets are going to have the whole league at them again.

Phew, how’s that for a run-on sentence?

It’s been a terrific year back so far.

What’s next for Atlanta though? I’m glad you asked. In a week, the Olympic torch will come back to Atlanta for the first time in a quarter-century as we head to Roswell (that’s “RAHZ-wuhl”. “Roz-WELL” is where the aliens are) for our annual long course meet. I don’t think NBC will be covering it though. [PSA: Atlanta swimmers, your individual entries are due by 9pm on Monday 8/2!]

A week after that, and we head to the Chastain Park Athletic Club for the Grown-Up Swimming Championship of the World of Atlanta where we’ll partner with our hosts in a fundraiser for Swim Across America.

So, while we’re here watching the real Games in Tokyo, the Grown-Up Swimming family is gearing up for a super-fun finish here in Atlanta PLUS a start in some other towns around the county. More to come on that soon!
